2008 X Inland Championship

As the ILYA's own Sally Barkow gets ready to represent the USA this summer in Beijing come join other future Olympic hopefuls July 23-26th on the waters of Lake Winnebago. The Oshkosh Yacht Club is busy making plans to make this the most memorable X Champs yet!

The OYC is delighted to host the 2008 X Inland Regatta, July 23-26. This year's event will have competitive races each day and parties with the traditional Oshkosh spirit to follow. Plan on joining us!

Accommodations!

Book your hotel accommodations now as our future Olympians will be racing for the X Championship on Lake Winnebago! We encourage you to book now, as the week following is EAA here in Oshkosh and hotels will book fast.

We have blocked rooms for the regatta at the Hilton & Park Plaza under the ILYA!

Hilton Garden Inn = special regatta rate of $109 per night
Park Plaza = special regatta rate of $85 per night

Schedule of Events

Wednesday, July 23, 2008 "Opening Ceremonies"

9:00 am -6:00 pm Registration at Regatta Headquarters, Miller's Bay

3:00 PM Practice Race for registered boats (optional participation)

6:15 PM Opening Ceremonies at the Waters (at the foot of Washington Ave.) At the opening ceremonies each Club represented at the Regatta will be asked to designate one sailor to lead the other skippers and crew from their club in the "Parade of Burgees". The burgees will then be flown throughout the event at the Waters.

X fleet meeting to immediately follow the Opening Ceremonies.

7:00 PM Dinner Social at the Waters

6:30 PM "Lake of Champions" Olympic Party at the Waters. Don't miss the fun with games, food and a fantastic DJ. Karaoke will be on tap, and our DJ will be organizing fun events in which "medals" will be awarded! Casual attire for all-expect a night full of fund for you and your family!

Headquarters will be at a tent adjacent to Millers Bay. Racing will be held in the navigable waters of Lake Winnebago on courses described in the sailing instruction.

Spectator Fleet
Every effort will be made to provide ample spectator boats.
 
Registration
Wednesday - 9:00 am -6:00 PM
All registration for the event will be through the ILYA. Please see the ILYA website for entry form, fees and deadlines.

At Registration you will have the opportunity to purchase lunches for Thursday, Friday and Saturday. Lunches will be served at the Regatta Headquarters at Miller's Bay. Also at Registration you will have the opportunity to purchase tickets for both social events of the week. These are the Wednesday night "Opening Ceremonies" at the beautiful, newly renovated Waters, and the fun filled "Lake of Champions" Olympic themed dinner and entertainment night on Friday (also at the Waters).
 
Launching and Mooring

Boats will be wet sailed. Launching & mooring will take place at Miller's Bay. Please be sure to bring an anchor for your boat, as well as at least 20 feet of mooring line. The lake has a mucky bottom, so plenty of line will be needed. Each skipper will be responsible for their own mooring. Security will be on site each evening."

Home lake sailing instructors and their tenders will be helpful to get the kids to and from their boats. OYC will also be providing taxi boats to get the kids out on the water.
Trailer parking will be available at the north end of Menominee Park.
 
Shirts & Mementos!
Regatta T-shirts and other mementos of the weekend will be available at registration, as well as social and lunch tickets.
 
Trophies
Trophies will be awarded after the final race on Saturday by the ILYA at Regatta Headquarters.
